RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY : ANALYSIS OF THE FINANCIAL TOOLS GENETIC COUNSELING STUDENTS USE TO FUND THEIR TRAINING
Genetic Counseling training is expensive!!! Did you struggle to pay for training? Share your experience and help the next cohorts of genetic counselors! Lead Researcher Itzel Mancilla-Murillo and researchers from the Division of Genetics and Genomics at the University of California, Irvine are recruiting participants for a research study about the financial tools genetic counseling students use to fund various aspects of their 2 years of training. Obtaining information on the financial tools genetic counseling students from ALL backgrounds utilize will provide valuable insight regarding the financial cost of genetic counseling training and promote greater justice, equity, and diversity in genetic counseling.
You are eligible to participate in this study if you are a United States citizen, graduated as part of the classes of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 or expect to graduate in 2025 or 2026 from an ACGC-accredited genetic counseling graduate program.
Participating involves completion of an anonymous survey which is estimated to take approximately 15-20 minutes.
For every completed entry, $1 will be donated to the GCEA fund that provides Match Fee Waivers for the next cohort of prospective Genetic Counselors (up to a total donation of $500).
