Assistant Director of Experiential Education - KGI
Position Title: Assistant Director of Experiential Education, Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling and Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics
Faculty, Full-Time (1.0 FTE), Exempt
Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Experiential Education is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of experiential education for the MSGC (0.7 FTE) and MSGDA (0.3FTE) programs. The Assistant Director of Experiential Education must possess strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Assistant Director of Experiential Education reports directly to the MSGC and MSGDA Program Directors and works collaboratively with genetics faculty and supervisors to ensure experiential education of the genetics programs are in full compliance with relevant accreditation councils and KGI policies. We seek a dynamic individual dedicated to supporting our innovative and effective genetics programs as we prepare graduates to be leaders in the rapidly evolving field of human genetics and genomics.
Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services. Education and Experience
The successful candidate possesses a Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program and certification in Genetic Counseling from the ABGC or ABMGG; at least three to five years in clinical genetics or genomics that includes teaching, clinical supervision, and/or research. Industry experience and Spanish proficiency is preferred, but not required. California state licensure is required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

For MSGC:
Oversees implementation, coordination, evaluation, and long-term management of the clinical curriculum, which includes ensuring the full compliance with ACGC Standards;
Manages clinical site development and ongoing clinical site monitoring
Performs administrative duties as a part of the program’s leadership team, including faculty recruitment, new hire onboarding, and faculty coordination;
Evaluates student clinical performance
Monitor and evaluate clinical supervisors
Oversee and collaborate with the Program Director to develop an ongoing supervisor training series for MSGC rotation supervisors
Engages in the academic advising of students;
Provides remedial instruction as needed;
Participates in ongoing accreditation activities, as well as continuous programmatic and curricular evaluation;
Collaborates with Program Director and principal faculty to develop, review, and revise the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program as necessary;
Participates in the MSGC program’s admissions process, including student recruitment, review of applications, evaluation of candidates, and final selection for admission;
Engages in faculty development activities through ongoing clinical practice and/or continuous education in order to remain aware of issues impacting Genetic Counseling education and clinical practice;
Engages in service, including serving on multiple MSGC committees
For MSGDA:
Manages internship and capstone site development and ongoing site management;
Coordinate with the KGI Career Services team to oversee the internship and capstone program for MSGDA;
Performs administrative duties as a part of the program’s leadership team, including faculty recruitment, faculty coordination, and student engagement;
Engage with internship and capstone supervisors;
Participates in continuous programmatic and curricular evaluation;
Collaborates with Program Director and principal faculty to develop, review, and revise the mission statement, learning objectives, and student requirements of the program as necessary;
For SPHS Service:
Serves in appropriate committees in the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences;
Performs other duties as determined by the MSGC and MSGDA Program Directors and/or the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

· A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.

Ability to maintain good concentration while dealing with interruptions; attention to details with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop (e.g., to file). Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs. (e.g., to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages).
