2024 Internship for Prospective GC Students
Prospective Genetic Counseling Student Internship at USC Keck School of Medicine.
The USC Keck School of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, offers an internship for college seniors or college graduates interested in a career in genetic counseling. This 1-year, 10-15 hour/week program begins in Summer, 2024, and offers an immersive experience into the field of cancer genetic counseling with direct clinical exposure, supervised by practicing cancer genetic counselors. Over the past 10 years, our two clinical sites at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Los Angeles General Medical Center have supported dozens of students applying to the field of genetic counseling by including them in shadowing, case conferencing, research, and pedigree work. Also, at LA General Medical Center, Spanish-speaking interns can gain valuable experience with genetic counseling within a safety-net hospital population. By joining our team, interns will receive support and learn valuable professional skills to help them become successful applicants for genetic counseling graduate programs. We will accept applications starting February 15, and April 1 is the deadline for priority consideration.
