Southern California Genetic Counselors (SCGC) invites you to join us for our 6th Annual Education Conference! This year's theme is AMPLIFY, and we're not just talking about DNA! We are passing the mic and turning up the volume on important and innovative voices that are expanding and pushing the field of genetic counseling forward.


The 2023 SCGC Annual Education Conference is a full-day event that will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023 at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa in Costa Mesa, CA. This event is intended for genetic counselors, students and genetics healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals from a variety of settings, including academic centers, private entities, major healthcare systems, community-based services, clinical laboratories, industry and research. The conference highlights and shares expertise of genetic professionals in Southern California while providing a venue for collaboration and networking of genetics professionals in our region.


The conference presentations will also be broadcast LIVE via Zoom for those who register to attend virtually!

Registration for our 6th AEC is now CLOSED. Registration is required to attend. No day-of registration will be available and we will not be issuing refunds.


For all of our registrants, you should have received an email confirmation after purchasing your AEC ticket. If you have questions or concerns regarding your registration, please reach out to our registration team:


In-person attendees must present their tickets on entry. You can either print your ticket or present a digital copy on your mobile device.


Virtual attendees will be contacted by email with virtual event login information prior to May 19th, 2023. The conference presentations will be broadcast LIVE via Zoom for those who register to attend virtually.

To claim CEUs, your ticket should say "with CEUs." You will need to fill out the post-AEC evaluation form and pay the $25 CEU fee to receive credit.

Continuing Education Units

The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) has authorized Southern California Genetic Counselors  to offer up to 0.625 CEUs or 6.25 Category 1 contact hours for the activity SCGC Annual Education Conference 2023. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor certification and recertification.


In order to claim CEUs for this event, you must purchase a registration ticket "with CEUs" and complete the post-conference survey. Deadline for completion is Friday, May 26th at 5:00PM PDT.

Research Poster & Platform Session

The research posters and platform submissions window is now closed for our 2023 Annual Education Conference. The purpose of this session is for genetic counseling students and genetic counselors to share their research work with attendees. Eligible research projects are capstone/thesis projects or other research projects involving genetic counselors that are being conducted in the Southern California area.


We ask that participants fill out the following two forms:

  1. Research Poster and Platform Presentation Proposal

  2. Conflict of Interest Form

This year's conference will be held at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa, located in the heart of the Orange County business district.

Parking: Onsite parking will be available and free for attendees.


SCGC has been provided a discounted group rate for conference attendees who choose to stay at the Hilton Orange County hotel in Costa Mesa, CA. Please note that the rate is cheaper the earlier you reserve and rooms are first come first serve.

COVID Policy*

  • Indoor masking is strongly recommended for in-person attendees.

  • In-person attendees are encouraged to be up-to-date with current vaccination recommendations.

  • There is an option for virtual attendance for those who are not comfortable gathering in-person.

  • In the event that it is not safe to gather in-person or as local policies dictate, the meeting date and/or format may be subject to change.

  • In person attendees are encourage to take an at-home test before attending, and to attend virtually if they test positive or are ill.
