Southern California Genetic Counselors (SCGC) invites you to join us for our 7th Annual Education Conference!


The theme of the 7th AEC is "Lighting the Way: Navigating Uncertainty, Innovation and Collaboration." Please join us in shining a light on our fantastic line-up of speakers and presenters this year in the City of Industry!


The 2024 SCGC Annual Education Conference is a full-day event that will be held on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry, CA. This event is intended for genetic counselors, students and genetics healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals from a variety of settings, including academic centers, private entities, major healthcare systems, community-based services, clinical laboratories, industry and research. The conference highlights and shares expertise of genetic professionals in Southern California while providing a venue for collaboration and networking of genetics professionals in our region.


The conference presentations will also be broadcast LIVE via Zoom for those who register to attend virtually!



Registration will open Monday, March 4th, 2024. We will send an email to all SCGC members and post on our social media when registration is available for the 2024 AEC. Registrants will have the option to register to attend in-person or virtually with or without continuing education units (CEUs). Discounted tickets for SCGC members! Becoming a member is easy and FREE!  

Registration is required to attend. Please get your tickets early! No refunds will be available.

Speaker Submissions

The call for speaker submissions is now open for our 2024 Annual Education Conference! We are looking for engaging, innovative, and informative presentations for the SCGC membership and Southern California genetic counseling community.

The speaker submission window for the 2024 AEC is now closed.

Continuing Education Units

This event is being submitted to the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) for category 1 CEU approval. More information to come.


In order to claim CEUs for this event, you must purchase a registration ticket "with CEUs" and complete the post-conference survey.

Research Poster & Platform Session

The call for research posters and platform submissions is now open for our 2024 Annual Education Conference. The purpose of this session is for genetic counseling students and genetic counselors to share their research work with attendees. Eligible research projects are capstone/thesis projects or other research projects involving genetic counselors that are being conducted in the Southern California area.

The submission window for research posters and platform sessions is now closed.

We ask that participants fill out the following forms:​ 

  1. Research Poster and Platform Presentation Proposal

  2. Conflict of Interest

This year's conference will be held at the Pacific Palms Resort, located in the heart of the City of Industry!

COVID Policy*

  • Indoor masking is strongly recommended for in-person attendees.

  • In-person attendees are encouraged to be up-to-date with current vaccination recommendations.

  • There is an option for virtual attendance for those who are not comfortable gathering in-person.

  • In the event that it is not safe to gather in-person or as local policies dictate, the meeting date and/or format may be subject to change.

  • In person attendees are encourage to take an at-home test before attending, and to attend virtually if they test positive or are ill.
